Assessing without levels - Information for parents

This information has been put together to inform you of the changes that have been made to assessment procedures at Dale.  As many of you will be aware, as of September 2014, the DfE have removed the requirement to assess against levels for children in Primary Schools.  Schools have been encouraged to create their own non-level based assessment system.

The booklets below outline the end of year expectations for learners in our school.  These expectations are based upon the new National Curriculum and the age related expectations for the year group.  Children will be expected to meet all of the statements to be judged as ‘Meeting age related expectations’.

If you have any queries about the content of these booklets or want any support in knowing how to support your child at home, please talk to your child’s class teacher.

Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception)
Children in the EYFS will continue to be assessed against the EYFS profile.  This consists of ‘Ages and Stages’ criteria and Early Learning Goals.  At the end of Reception these are reported as Emerging, Expected or Exceeding the Early Learning Goals in each area.  If children are assessed as ‘Expected’ they are meeting age related expectations.
