Attendance and Achievement Data

The graphs below represent the impact that increased attendance has on achievement at school. It’s very simple… the more time your child spends in school, the more likely they are to do well.

At Dale, we want EVERY child to fulfil their potential and have the best start to life. In order for this to happen, it is essential that pupils have good attendance and come to school Every day and on time. There are 190 school days in a year, which leaves 175 days for attending appointments, taking holidays and spending time with family.

We monitor and celebrate good attendance regularly, including:

As well as attending school everyday, children must also be on time.

Our gates open at 8.40am and close at 8.50am.

If they arrive after 9am, they will be marked late.

Being late to school means your child is missing learning time, including their morning work.

If you child is unable to attend school, please phone the school office on 01332 760070 by 9.15am or email attendance@dale.derby.sch.uk. If you do not phone to tell us about your child, we will contact you and a home visit may have to be carried out.

The Department for Education states that no child is expected to be absent from school on holiday during term time. We expect parents will only take their child on holiday during the allocated school holidays, of which there are 175 a year to choose from. If your child needs to miss school, due to an exceptional holiday during term time, you must speak to the office and complete a leave of absence form.
