Home Learning for Year 6

Hello, Year 6! We hope that you are all well and working hard of course!

I am trying not to drink too much coffee or eat too much cake! I have actually been very good and have done an hour on my exercise bike every day- pretty impressive I know! Mr Helliwell has even written himself a timetable so that he gets all his work done and uses his time sensibly… Do you think he will stick to it? I must say though, I was dazzled and amazed by his organisational skills - perhaps I should send Mr Helliwell a ‘Mrs Collins is dazzled and amazed’ sticker- what do you think?

The other day, all of the Year 6 teachers did a video call so we could discuss your Easter work - it was very funny. As you can probably imagine, we all looked particularly glamorous working from home - or maybe not- I think we actually scared each other! Miss Wilson and Miss Buchanan wear the crown for ‘best multitaskers’: Miss Wilson somehow managed to talk to us whilst entertaining her boys with the best craft activities I have ever seen and Miss Buchanan was able to help with her daughter’s home learning and still come up with fabulous ideas for you lot too- what talented teachers you have!

We hope that you have been following your timetable; by now you are all probably expert spellers and multiplication whizz-kids! We are missing teaching you all about World War 2- it is such a fascinating subject and we find people’s experiences and what life was like for children at that time so interesting. What is the most interesting thing you have found out so far? We know that you will be asking lots of questions and making lots and LOTS of connections!

Remember to keep those brains working Year 6 and don’t forget to do your daily exercise and mindfulness. We are all missing you loads, Take care,

From Mrs Collins and the Year 6 Team
