Dear Year One Children,

Once again, it is another week where we can’t see your lovely smiles in our classrooms! We are missing you even more as the weeks go on but we know we are in the safest place – home  we wanted to remind you all how proud of you we are for working so hard during these strange times.

This week, the teachers have also been trying to keep out of trouble at home!

Miss Smith has been painting her chest of drawers – can you guess what colour? She has also been busy making yummy gyros at home – I can confirm that they look super tasty! Mrs Singh has also been getting creative in the kitchen by learning how to make pizza dough for her and her family! Remember: every day is a school day and we can all learn something new. If you have learned anything new during this time, we would LOVE to hear about it! Miss Roome will admit that she isn’t as imaginative in the kitchen, however when it comes to painting garden fences, she isn’t too bad! Can you guess what colour Miss Roome’s fence is?

If you think you can guess the colour of Miss Smith’s chest of drawers, Miss Roome’s fence colour or if you want to share something new that you have learned or even some of your work that you have done, email us on the year 1 email address: year1@dale.derby.sch.uk. We would love to hear from you!

We hope you are all staying safe by washing your hands often, staying indoors and helping your grown-ups during this difficult time too. Don’t forget to clap every Thursday at 8pm for our amazing NHS who are helping lots of people and their families who are poorly.

We are thinking of you all every single day and are hoping and praying that we’ll be back together soon. We look forward to seeing you all soon but for now, enjoy the sunshine (fingers crossed), find different ways to relax and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

See you all soon! From Miss Roome, Miss Smith and Mrs Singh

FREE PHONICS LESSONS!

Dear Year One Parents/Carers

We are pleased to let you know that your child can receive a daily phonics lesson whilst schools are closed. Phonics is the way we teach children to recognise the sounds in words. It helps your child to learn to read and is an essential part of your child’s education.

Please make this a new task at 10.30 am every morning.
