We all experience grief at some point in our lives, take a look and read Mrs Najib’s personal experience of losing a very important loved one.

I lost my father, who was not only my father but also my best friend.  That period in my life was very difficult. I felt I would never be able to come to terms with the loss of my father.  Even though I knew in our religion "to Allah SWT belong to him we shall return"  (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioun). I couldn't accept this loss.  For many weeks I did not talk to anyone, eat or sleep.

Eventually, I spoke to my doctor who advised me to seek counselling. I arranged the meeting with the counsellor and she came to my house.  The moment we spoke I was able to let out my feelings and cry.  I felt ease in my heart, I had a few meetings with  her which helped me immensely.    I realised then, it was important for me to talk about my feelings rather than close them up.

Eventually I was able to talk to my friends and family and this eased my pain and I accepted my father was gone. I visit the grave often and still it’s very emotional for me.  I will never forget but I am able to cope and deal with my feelings, more now than before.  Each passing day is a healing process. - Mrs Najib
